THILOGI AND RCL LAUNCH DIRECT SHIPPING ROUTE FROM CHU LAI TO INDIA

On May 16, Truong Hai International Logistics Limited Liability Company (THILOGI), a member of THACO Group, signed a cooperation agreement with Regional Container Lines (RCL), a Bangkok-based container shipping company, to launch a direct shipping service from Chu Lai Port to India. That same day, the Singapore-flagged vessel Chana Bhum, operated by RCL, arrived at Chu Lai Port, marking the official start of the Chu Lai–India shipping route.

Nearly 800 containers of import and export goods—including garments, furniture, agricultural products, and spare parts—were transported between Vietnam and India on the inaugural voyage. With India being Vietnam’s largest trading partner in South Asia—accounting for about 80% of the region’s total export turnover—the route is especially important for agricultural product exports.

Operating with a frequency of two trips per month, the Chu Lai–India route not only facilitates trade with India but also enhances connectivity to countries such as China, South Korea, and Japan. By bypassing major transshipment hubs in northern and southern Vietnam, the direct call service significantly reduces transportation time and costs, thereby increasing the competitiveness of Vietnamese exports.

This strategic route also supports the development of agricultural production across Central Vietnam, the Central Highlands, Southern Laos, and Northern Cambodia. It contributes to the growth of supply chains, promotes logistics services, and positions Chu Lai Port as a more prominent player on the global maritime map.

On the same day, THILOGI also held a ceremony to announce the completion of dredging for the Ky Ha shipping channel. Following the dredging, the channel now meets technical standards to accommodate vessels up to 30,000 DWT.

Chu Lai International Port, operational since May 2012, is located in Quang Nam province within the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone. Spanning 140 hectares, it plays a crucial role in the multimodal transport network and serves as a key trade gateway for Central Vietnam. The port is strategically positioned along the East–West Economic Corridor and offers convenient access to major highways, airports, and railways
