The port experienced a busy first half of August 2024, welcoming 35 vessels carrying a diverse cargo mix, including auto parts, machinery, fruits, cassava starch, pellets, wood chips, minerals, household goods, furniture, and garments for businesses, including numerous foreign-invested enterprises, in the Central Vietnam and Central Highlands regions.
Chu Lai port is actively seeking to capitalize on agricultural products and minerals from the Central Highlands of Vietnam, as well as Laos and Cambodia. The goal is to export these goods to markets in China, Japan, and South Korea, positioning Chu Lai as a major international cargo transshipment hub.
Accordingly, it is implementing a comprehensive strategy to attract more cargo. This includes expanding port operations, enhancing the entire logistics service chain, and strengthening partnerships with international shipping lines to optimize routes to Northeast Asia. Market research, targeted marketing, and customer focus are also key components of the port’s growth plan.
In near future, the port will continuously assess and enhance service quality by making necessary adjustments, meanwhile providing active support to customers in completing customs procedures.
Cargo volume at the port surged to over 2.2 million tons during the first seven months of 2024, marking a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. The port anticipates handling a total of 4.5 million tons of cargo by the end of 2024.
