THILOGI OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES CHU LAI PORT 02 TUGBOAT
On February 21, the CHU LAI PORT 02 tugboat, invested by Chu Lai International Port, was officially launched at the port of Saigon Shipbuilding Industry Company (SSIC). The tugboat measures 26.68 meters in length, 8.11 meters in width, with a capacity of 2,200 HP and a total investment of over VND 30 billion. It is expected to be put into operation in April 2025.
CHU LAI PORT 02 features a modern design, fully compliant with national technical regulations on the classification and construction of steel-hull sea-going vessels. It is equipped with a marine pollution prevention system and comprehensive safety equipment for maritime operations.
Following the launch, SSIC’s technical team will proceed with installing key equipment including the main engine, generators, electrical systems, and interior fittings, in accordance with the approved design and industrial aesthetic standards. The vessel will undergo a series of tests, including inclination tests, sea trials, and acceptance inspections both at berth and at sea, prior to official commissioning.
Currently, Chu Lai International Port operates the CHU LAI TRUONG HAI PORT tugboat, responsible for assisting vessels during berthing and unberthing operations. In 2024, the port handled over 750 vessel calls, with strong growth expected in the near future. The addition of CHU LAI PORT 02 will enhance the port’s service capacity and ensure maritime safety for large-capacity vessels calling at the 50,000 DWT berth.
