CHU LAI INTERNATIONAL PORT ENHANCES CARGO HANDLING CAPACITY AND SERVICE QUALITY
On March 14, Chu Lai International Port simultaneously welcomed two container vessels, namely MONICA (CMA CGM) and SITC HAINAN (SITC), successfully handling nearly 2,000 TEUs of cargo within just over 12 hours.
The shipment included spare parts, industrial products, garments, furniture, medical equipment, fresh fruits, and tapioca starch, etc, transported to Thailand, South Korea, China, and Japan. To accelerate the handling process, the port efficiently allocated berths, equipment, and manpower, optimizing loading and unloading procedures, ensuring that the vessels departed on schedule, and maintaining maritime safety
Chu Lai International Port operates two specialized berths, capable of accommodating four large vessels simultaneously, enhances operational efficiency, and minimizes vessel waiting times. The port provides logistics services for enterprises located in major industrial zones such as Bac Chu Lai, Tam Thang (Quang Nam), VSIP, and Tinh Phong (Quang Ngai), connecting cargo flows from Northern Cambodia and Southern Laos to Chu Lai International Port. The port has been expanding partnerships with major international shipping lines such as SITC, CMA CGM, RCL, etc, expanding direct shipping routes, connecting regional cargo sources to global markets, especially container cargo.
In 2024, the wharf 50,000-ton is expected to help boost total cargo volume through the port to approximately 4.1 million tons, by 35% compared to 2023. This year, the port is investing in specialized cranes, expanding its warehouse system, and completing the dredging Ky Ha shipping channel to a depth of -9.3 meters, enabling it to receive 50,000-ton vessels starting this April.
Chu Lai International Port has officially implemented an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform to manage its business operations, deploying key initiatives including ePort (electronic port system), Smart Gate (intelligent gate system), PL-COS (general cargo operation system), and an upgraded PL-TOS (container terminal operating system). These advancements are designed to streamline management and operational processes, enhance service quality, improve the efficiency of logistics activities, and contribute to the development of a modern, eco-friendly port, solidifying Chu Lai’s position as a leading port in Central Vietnam.
