On February 7, 2026, at Chu Lai International Port, Idemitsu Green Energy Vietnam (IGEV) held a ceremony to export its first commercial pellet shipment to the Japanese market, with the participation of business representatives, partners, and customers. The event marked a new milestone in the partnership between IGEV and Chu Lai International Port, while affirming the port’s role in accompanying businesses to operate stable and efficient export supply chains.
Ceremony for the export of the first commercial pellet shipment to Japan via Chu Lai International Port
Chu Lai International Port and IGEV began cooperating on biomass pellet exports in 2023. From the very first shipments, both parties proactively discussed and developed plans for transportation, storage, and stevedoring suitable for the specific nature of bulk cargo. These plans met technical preservation requirements and the strict standards of the export market, thereby optimizing costs and operational time for the enterprise.
The shipment was loaded onto the vessel and departed on schedule
On this occasion, IGEV exported nearly 1,000 tons of black pellets – a product currently manufactured by the unit in Vietnam. To date, IGEV has exported a total of 10,000 tons of biomass pellets through Chu Lai International Port. The fact that the enterprise continues to choose the port as its export point demonstrates its trust in the infrastructure capacity, operational services, and the ability to flexibly meet logistics needs.
Cargo handling operations were organized safely and quickly
An IGEV representative shared: “After the process of site selection, building a pilot plant, and then a commercial plant, we have carried out the first commercial shipment after 10 years of effort. We highly appreciate the companionship and support of Chu Lai International Port – the logistics service provider that has significantly contributed to today’s achievement.”
Representatives of Chu Lai International Port and IDGV look forward to long-term cooperation in the future
In 2026, IGEV is expected to increase the frequency and volume of pellet exports to approximately 48,000 tons through the port. With advantages in infrastructure, warehousing systems, and synchronized logistics services, Chu Lai International Port is committed to continuing to improve service quality and optimize operational processes to effectively meet the increasing export needs of enterprises in the Central and Central Highlands regions.
